Need Advice In Retrieving Legal Fees On Humanitarian Grounds

Hi, I am trying to retrieve a portion of money minus legal fees (amount given upfront 50,000 INR) given to a lawyer and group (opposite high court, chennai) through a mutual contact whose services, i sought to deal with a dicvorce case out of desperation as there were none to help me out at that time....Going forward, After hiring them, I was unable to further utilize their services as i felt this lawyer was abusive and lost contact after i was admitted to hospital due to an attempted overdose and depression for a long period (1 year). I lost my job and dont have funds for basic expenses such as food,rent & mental health medication. I am not able to even get a loan as i do not have a payslip and an active income...After a year, recently, i contacted and requested the lawyer while explaining my situation through whatsapp to help by returning the money minus his expenditure on humaitarian grounds. On my second message, he replied that he was out of station and will meet next week. After 4 days, i again contacted him and asked if we could meet, he saw my message and then radio silence. I need advice on how to get back the funds minus legal expenditure without creating any ruckus or bear the brunt of retaliation. This might be a foolish request, but i have no other choce.
