Spouse absconding

I was married in India in 2019. We had difference and lived separately after 6 months of marriage. He said he needed time. I gave time. Meanwhile I planned for my further studies in Canada and came here. One day his mail popped up "this isn't working for us" while I was still in India. I ignored as I was focused on my studies and immigration process then. I responded when I reached Canada that we can talk via email as this is the best to have everything documented. He asked for divorce, I said I have no plans for India as of now but I'm ready for video conference hearing if that's an option. He then started asking my visa documents n passport n address to which I denied. And told him that he can do any correspondence at my home address in India and my family will forward it to me. He kept on asking for it. I denied. I then told him I had plans after my studies and if he wants the legal process then we can plan accordingly for the time I will be there. I never heard from him since then. It has been more than an year. He is absconding and not responding to my emails. I want a divorce as I don't want to include his name in my PR application here. I want a legal separation and I have sensed that the type of person he is, he is absconding purposely just to bother me. What are the options I can go for divorce given the situation that he is absconding since more than a year.
