Fraud related to life insurance term policies by a bank and its branch employees.
We had a troubling experience with a bank agent from HDFC who provided us with misleading information about a life insurance term policy. Unfortunately, he did not provide any brochures. Trusting his information, we decided to apply for the insurance. However, once the policy started, we discovered through the policy document that we had been misled.
When we confronted the agent, he repeated the same information he had given us earlier, which we have documented as proof. We also informed the branch manager about the situation, and he assured us that he would address the issue and help us get our money back. However, his responses have been delayed, citing that he has a lot of work to do.
We escalated the matter by posting our situation on HDFC's Facebook page and registering a complaint via their official email. Despite writing multiple emails, we received a response stating that they cannot cancel the policy because they believe no fraud or misinformation was committed by either the branch agent or the manager.
Given that we have evidence of the misleading information, is there any legal recourse available to us?
