Divorce from a second wife, who also have divorced around one year ago and have a 3 year old son
My cousin's wife died delivering her second child. His parents are old and therefore wanted him to get married again to take care of the children. For a long time, they were searching and found a match 5 months ago. She had a divorce and also had the custody of her son. My cousin's family eventually agreed to accept her as they needed somebody to take care of children. There were some conditions
1. She had to accept the two children as well and take care of them as her own.
2. My cousin resides in a village, so she had to adjust as per the lifestyle.
3. He works in a pvt factory and doesn't earn much, so both of them had to manage all the expenses + education of 3 children.
They also gave her money to buy clothes and necessary items fro the marriage. Marriage was a very small gathering, 40 people max at their relative's home. Some snack and food was served, max expense 25K.
After getting married, she started to demand money
1. She demanded around 30% salary for herself only.
2. She said that she will not take care of the two children.
3. She said that she was not informed about the family condition.
4. She called her mother and went home after 3 months.
5. She also took the jewelry with her and her jewelry at my cousin's home.
Now there is demand of divorce from my cousin's side as she is not behaving as per expectations and also not ready to listen. Some persons from both side gathered to resolve this or to agree on a mutual divorce.
1. She was insisting to stay but may not take care of children.
2. She refused to have taken the jewelry with her.
3. Her mother is demanding 5lac citing expense on marriage. Only expense was the food topping 25K max along with some clothes as per custom, topping another 25k.
4. We have already expelled my cousin's legally because of some other issues.
What's in it for us now?
Citing this is her second divorce, can she even claim unproven expenses?
Does the family have to bear this or only my cousin?
