Husband not giving money for monthly needs

I am writing to seek legal guidance regarding a matter involving my husband’s refusal to provide financial support for our children. I am facing significant challenges in managing the monthly expenses and ensuring the well-being of my two children, aged 18 and 11. To provide some context, I have been married for 19 years in an inter-caste marriage. Over the years, my husband has not taken responsibility for major household expenses such as the children’s education, vehicle costs, or lifestyle upgrades. While he occasionally provides for groceries and other minor expenses, the larger financial responsibilities have always fallen on me, despite my limited income. Additionally, my husband has been increasingly absent from the home, has had multiple extramarital affairs, and engages in unhealthy habits. At this point, he has stopped contributing even for basic expenses like vegetables, milk, and petrol, which I have been managing on my own. Given this ongoing situation, I no longer wish to have him live with me, but I need to ensure that he provides monthly financial support for the children, as it is his responsibility as well. However, I am unable to afford the costs of court proceedings, and I would prefer to explore other options for securing this support without involving the courts, if possible. Could you please advise me on how to proceed with this matter and whether there are any alternative legal avenues that can help me claim maintenance for my children without resorting to a formal court case? I would appreciate your guidance and any possible solutions you can offer.
