Tenant

Hi All, My inlaws have been tenants since 1932, in a house in South Mumbai. The present landlord lady 's in-laws were also tenants, but in 1998 when my father in law suddenly devised leaving behind a 95yr old bed ridden mother and my mother in law and 2 sons. While we were in the mourning period the Christian tenant (present landlord lady) purchased thd house without consenting with us. Then in 2000 grand mother expired thd house was on her name as tenant. Since then the landlady has refused to transfer the house and give rent receipts on my mother in laws name. As we were unable to leave my mother in law alone in the house due to unsafe reasons she was moved to my brother in law. My husband visits the house every year to maintain the place as my mother in law in now unable to travel and my brother in law too has health issues. My husband and my always have kept this house as our home in Mumbai due yo work we are out of Mumbai and visit annually. Now the landlady has stopped taking rent since 2019 she is returning our mail. She now says my husband is not a tenant and that his grandmother was a tenant, my husband was born in that house and has all documents from birth on that address. My husband asked her to transfer the house or give us the value so that we can have a home for our aged mother in Mumbai snd for us. Even though my mother in law is with my brother in law is it not the right for my mother in law snd my husband to own the house where they lived and took care of bed ridden grand mother until her death. Since mother is law is now under the care of her younger son as my Husband is out for work. Can this landlandy forcefully evict us of our home or take us to court. Appreciate your feed back.
