Pregnant and partner’s family refusing the marriage at the end moment.
Me and my partner we both live in London at the moment and have been knowing each other since about 3 years and recently moved in together since September 2024. In 2023 I was pregnant, however due to the pressure of his family, was asked to abort in 7 weeks. I refused but eventually agreed as my partner mentioned that he would leave me if I don’t abort.
Currently I am 10 weeks pregnant, we informed our family and they were wanting to get us married initially. The venue is booked, wedding cards are printed, flight tickets are also booked. Few days back there was an incident due to which verbal fight turned into physical fight and I called the police to which he was arrested in the local police station in London. I did not give any statement and he was released the next morning. He informed his family about the incident and his side of the story and his family called off the wedding. They mentioned postpone on the ground of our immaturity. I am from the state of West Bengal and I am Hindu and he is from Kerala and he is Christian. When my family asked about the child, they were reluctant about responding and preferred that I keep it with myself or abort it will be my decision. But I have to do it all by myself. My partner also mentioned that he would only listen to what his family say.
Will I get any protection from the law?
