Advice regarding inheriting property as a widow

Namaste everyone, I would greatly appreciate your advice. Background, I'm a widow and my 2nd husband died few years ago without a will leaving behind ancestral land and self acquired properties that is to be divided between my step children and myself. I'm currently living in one of his properties that I wish to inherit and file registration documents for, but it seems that my step children aren't interested in settling the matter to give me a home as they live overseas and cannot be contacted. I just want 1 home to live in. Note that the property I'm living in does not have registry as my late husband didn't file the application nor did he pay stamp duty but I have documents from society stating property was sold to husband. Questions: 1. Can I transfer the property title to my name if step children don't wish to formally settle the property distribution? 2. What legal options do I have if step children don't settle property distribution with me? 3. Will I have to pay registry application and stamp duty fees if I inherit the property ? 4. Is it possible to check if property is disputed or has a case filed against it? If so, how? 5. Is my biological son from 1st marriage also legally entitled to share of my 2nd husband's properties?
