The NGT order has been quashed by supreme court and have upheld the argument given by state government. Through this decision, the state govt has saved itself from demolishing properties around the lake and a compensation of what might have been of abouta3 lakh crores.
The NGT, on May 4, 2016, had ordered a buffer zone and green belt of 75 metres around lakes, 50 metres for primary storm water drains, 35 metres for secondary storm water drains and 25 metres for tertiary storm water drains. The order now stands quashed as of March 6 2018. This will take back to the previous order being followed by the state government of having 30 meters buffer zone around the lake as per the 2015 order.
Though this is a happy moment for realtors and people who hold the property, but it is a sad day for the environment.
Is this order is valid as on date or any changes or appeal is pending?
