House contract agreement breach
I entered into a contract with a contractor for the construction of my house, with the total agreed amount being approximately 69 lakhs for a one-year project. However, the construction has extended beyond two years due to the location of the house on a field and the time required to clear all legal procedures. During this period, I discovered that the contractor has been dishonest in multiple ways. He has used substandard materials for the construction, stolen wood that was intended for making windows and other fixtures, and resold it, replacing it with inferior materials. Furthermore, he has failed to properly compensate the workers, despite our timely payments. As of now, the contractor has made a profit of over 30 lakhs from us, and we no longer wish to continue working with such an untrustworthy individual. Despite our attempts to resolve the issue through discussion, involving the police, and seeking legal advice, our efforts have been unsuccessful due to the contractor's apparent influence with higher authorities and the fact that he has transferred his assets, including his house, to his wife's name. This move seems to have been done deliberately to evade his financial obligations to us. I am seeking advice on the best course of action, as it appears that pursuing legal action may not be fruitful given the circumstances. Your guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
