Shared House with Partition: My Uncle Wants to Build, But I Can’t Afford to Rebuild—What Should I Do?
I need some advice regarding a situation with my family home. We have an old house that's been in our family for a long time. It's built using traditional methods with mud and wooden structures—no concrete. The house is large but quite old. Our family includes my mother, father, and me. My father has a brother who wants to build a house on his side of our property. We’ve already separated our living spaces by adding a single-layer brick wall between us, but it's not meant for structural support.
The issue is that my uncle needs to demolish his side of the wall to build his new house. An engineer told us that there's no need to worry, but I’m concerned about the stability of our side of the house, given that it's old and not made with modern materials like concrete.
Unfortunately, I don't have the money to rebuild or make significant repairs, and if the house becomes unstable, I might be forced to move out and live on rent. This is troubling since I own the house but can't afford to build or repair it.
What should I do in this situation? Should I be worried about the stability of the house after my uncle demolishes his side? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
