Borrower not returning money
I had lent to a former colleague of mine a sum of rupees 30,000 in July, 2019 via Google Pay which he asked for his children’s tution fees. Till date the loan is not cleared and he’s been making excuses that he’s struggling financially. He has also blocked my number a few times but when I called him from different number he lifted and unblocked my number saying that too many people were calling him and he put his phone on call blocking.
He has cleared 10,000 rupees so far and the last payment was done at Feb, 2023. Since then he made excuses and even blocked my number until I called from a different number. I suspect this will continue as long as I try contacting him. I don’t want to deal with this any longer as he sometimes makes excuses or does not lift call, responds to my call if he has some excuse or maybe even lying to dodge paying loan. I want to recover my remaining 20,000 rupees without interest from him.
I have Google pay, SMS and WhatsApp messages as evidences.
What are my legal options? Can lawyer fees be covered as part of judgement?? Is it stressful to go via legal route and what are my chances of recovering my money in full including legal costs?
