Fake promises on phone/chat
Does fake promises on phone/chat amount to any legal offense, specially if money was not transacted.
A person promised to come and purchase an item from me on olx, then kept me waiting whole day, giving this excuse and that and later said he was just teaching me a lesson because I was rude. He interpreted my being rude because when he contacted on olx chat asking if item was available, i replied, "yes but no hard bargain". That was all. He then proceeded by saying he wont bargain, offered me a decent price (I was selling a 4 month old item purchased for 45k, my asking price was 40, he offered me 35, which I accepted). He also gave his number, I called, and he told me he would come the next day. The whole next day he kept saying he was coming, reaching, near, some work. He then didnt answer my call. Then later on message, he said "who is this", then later he said, I was teaching you a lesson, tumhara kaat diya. I told him, I have recording of his phone call and the screenshots of olx and whatsapp chat, but he didnt care. He said, kya kar loge, jo kar pana kar lena.
Now, I understand, most people will wont give this thing much thought but this has been bugging me. Assuming I can spend some money to pursue this, my question is straight, does the law even acknowledge such behavior as wrong. He did waste my time and effort, he made me believe he was buying and coming to buy, then he said openly that he didn't intend to and was teaching me a lesson and made me a fool. I do have the audio recording and whatsapp screenshots (with phone number visible and not his name).
