Vehicle related query
It's a complex experience to explain and i hope i can bring clarity to the situation.
I had purchased a second hand Bajaj discover 2005 model and made the ownership in my name. But after a year i decided to sell the vehicle and met with a person, he was interested to buy the vehicle but since he was from a different state he couldn't buy it since the adhar has a address from another state, the RC couldn't be changed to his ownership. So at the next meeting he brought a person's adhar card copy claiming to be his friend and from the same state i reside in. He told me he'll give the advance now and he wants the vehicle today and the next day he would come with the friend and make it into his friend's ownership. I believed him which was the biggest mistake and something i can't change. I was too ignorant and careless, there's nothing I can do to change it but be careful in the future.
He never came back and the RC book was also in the vehicle. Tried to reach out to many police stations but they wouldn't file a case because it was our mistake and all we had was the person's phone number. The adhaar card copy turned out to be a random person's (we met him personally and he was surprised how we got the copy in the first place and has never even heard about such a guy).
After two years now the vehicle was caught recently by the traffic police, as the number plate was removed and insurance wasn't paid. So it was withheld and is in the station. The traffic police contacted me to take the vehicle as it's in my ownership, but without presenting the RC book they won't give me the vehicle. I went to the rto to apply for a duplicate rc book but they said at the last step of the procedure for issuing duplicate rc book, i would have to bring the vehicle to the rto for verification of the chasis and registration number. But the traffic police won't give me the vehicle unless i present the RC book. I'm in a big confusion and not sure what to do next
