Discrepancy in Recruitment Rules of the post Post Graduate Teacher in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas
According to the recruitment rules of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, a PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) in Chemistry is required to have a M.Sc (Master of Science) in Chemistry/Bio Chemistry with a B.Ed. No specialised Masters in Chemistry (such as Applied Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry etc) are allowed to apply. However the Bio Chemistry is a specialisation coming under the field of Biology. The specialisation Bio-Chemistry is closely related to Biology than with Chemistry. Specialised Masters in Chemistry such as Applied Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry are more closely related to the subject Chemistry. However post graduates with M.Sc Bio Chemistry are allowed to apply for PGT Chemistry whereas those with Specialised Masters in Chemistry (M.Sc in Applied Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Chemistry etc) are not allowed. This is a clear case of discrimination against specialised chemistry post graduates. Also a wide range of Masters are accepted for PGT Physics, PGT Mathematics, PGT Biology. Either they have to accept specialised chemistry post graduates or they have to include a clause within their recruitment rules stating that those with other qualifications are accepted if they provide documents proving the equivalence of their qualification with the prescribed qualifications.
