Lease Amount plus Some Additional Help
Hi,
I was a tenant of 1-BHK non furnished 400 sqft house and my lease term got over in 2014 itself. The lease amount was of 3 lakhs. Since I was having very good relationship with my landlord, the lease doc was not renewed, and I payed 2 lakhs more for further extension of lease using NEFT. The old lease doc was manually updated with the total 5 lakhs amount with my and landlord's signatures.
Our cordial relationship was not limited to lease, and I payed additional amount of 2.5 lakhs in 2019 for the landlords daughters marriage with verbal promise of latter to return the same within 2 months.
We informed to the landlord for our plan to vacate the house in Nov 2020 with the demand of refund of 7.5 lakhs owed by the landlord. In Whatsup chat the landlord agreed to return the said amount. Even our request to pay partially was not heeded. Finally, as my request, plea, and verbal fight didn't yield any result, I filed a written police complaint against the landlord. The landlord was called to the police station at the same time and he gave written submission at the police station that he will return the 7.5 lakhs in two installment in 1 year- 1 lakh in 6 months and 6.5 lakhs in the following 6 months. This time line too passed with no return. I am in possession of this written submission of promise of refund of the said amount, through RTI application in police station. Now police is asking to file a case against him. We have locked the house and vacated the premise in August'21, informing the landlord
Kindly let me know my chances of getting these amounts :
1. Lease amount of 5 lakhs (Default of 1.5 years from the date of intimation of vacation)
2. Amount of 2.5 lakhs paid to her daughter's marriage. (Default/fraud of 3 years)
