Tenant received the security deposit of 9.5lakhs, provoking us to get into an argument

We made a 3 year agreement for 10 lacs heavy deposit but after 6 months, the tenant requested to cancel the agreement as he didn't want our house for rent anymore. He wanted to vacate and requested us to pay back 10 lakhs. We returned 9.5 lakhs to the tenant and told him that we would return the remaining deposit amount of rs 50000 the day he leaves our house. After receiving 9.5lakhs, tenant demanded 50000 and refuse to leave the house. He then started provoking us to get angry so that he could give a complaint against us. Now, he is false claiming that we threatened him to kill. Now we are ready to pay 50000 but the tenant is adamant that he will go legally.... The tenant is not giving us chance to speak and provoking like hell... He is literally giving us mental torture. We are helpless, as we tried complaining to police. But police are saying that, 'this is civil matter, we can't help it'. We clearly understood the real intention of the tenant, he literally lied us... He manipulated and made us to return his deposit amount of rs 9.5lakhs ... Then provoked us to get into arguments. Now fully planned to stay at our house for free... Pls give a better solution to this problem, because the tenant thinks himself as very smart. He thinks that he can do anything with his evil plan.
