Fake DV case filed after death of husband

So, My Father's brother died in a road accident. After his death, Her wife and two children were living with our family. After a span of few months, her parents came and demanded to let her live with them and my family agreed. She was given the gold, cash and the belongings of her husband and some amount was paid via cheque as well. After going to her parents house, she filed a domestic violence case on our family and we contacted a lawyer about the same. All the information available was provided to the lawyer. The court kept giving dates and suddenly after 5 years the order letter came from the court ordering to pay a monthly amount to her. We had no knowledge about any of the hearings that took place all this while. And it is a one sided judgement. Since her parents place is in a different state and we live in a different state we had to hire a distant lawyer. Please guide us as to how we should come out of this fake trap. Also, the amount ordered to be paid monthly, For how long is it to be paid to her by my family.
