Education loan- sbi
I took an education loan of 4.0 L from SBI in the year 2014 for continuing my education abroad- in medicine (i was in 4th year of my 6 year M. D. Course), the loan was sanctioned without any collaterals at that time. According to loan letter i had to start repayment from July 2018- total 120 EMIs of around 6 500 INR. According to Medical Council Act, 1956 i cannot practice medicine legally in India without getting permanent license (after passing FMGE and then doing 1 year rotating internship in India). So i passed my FMGE in August 2018 and applied for provisional license at Jharkhand medical council on 26/09/2018.... but i got my provisional license on 04/04/2019- this delay not being because of me. I completed my internship (april [deleted]) as per MCI, New Delhi rules. I got my permanent license on 04/06/20- delay being because of complete national lockdown of 1st Covid wave.
I subsequently got a job in Aug 2020. Now the bank has directly filed a case against me for not paying emi from July 2018 till Aug 2020 (although it included RBI sanctioned moratorium too), the manager never personally called me up to inquire as to the reason. They sent goons at my home and harassed my family too. So what should i do now? Do they mean to say that i should have practiced illegally in India just to pay their EMI? And SBI knew about the system of MCI registration and still passed my loan- why bother me now?
I am paying EMIs ( payed around 54 000INR till now regularly- 7000INR per month) and am ready to even increase the EMI amount. So, kindly help me, this harrasment is actually interfering in my daily job at hospital. I want to resolve this and also they should compensate me for defamation and the harassment they have caused.
