Not Serving Notice Period due to toxic work Environment

I am working in a srvice based company and currently I am working on a project for one of their client. I tendered my resignation on June 23, 2021. According to my company's policy I need to serve 3 months of notice period after resignation. But due to some unavoidable circumstances I requested my company to reduce my notice period to 1 month. But they never tried to understand my state of mind. They are continuosly forcing me to serve the full notice period even when I am not finding it comfortable. So I discussed this with my next employer an told my company and their client as well that 9 July will be last working day. My next employer is ready to hire me even without any relieving letter. I even requested my current comdpany that I am ready to pay for the shortfall of the notice period. Now, they are threatening me of taking a legal action against me. So can you please let me know whether they can do anything with me legally or not? My Notice period clause as per employment letter is as follows: This contract of employment is terminable, without reasons, by either party giving three (3) months prior written notice. Company reserves the right to pay or recover salary in lieu of said notice period or part thereof, in the sole discretion of the Company.
