Minimum wages

Dear Sir, It is for your information that India's minimum wage is 176 Indian rupees ($3) for the eight-hour workday, but local authorities can set their own lower rate and at least six states do so. The minimum wages to be paid to labourers was increased by 34 per cent, by a notification issued by the Government of Delhi last year. At present, unskilled labourers are entitled to a minimum wage of Rs 14,000 per month, semi-skilled labourers, Rs 15,400 per month, and skilled labourers, Rs 16,962. But in Other states, the wages rate is very low in comparison to Delhi which is making the life of the labourers more worsen during such a high rate of inflation in our country. Also, the companies are not providing salary to their employees as per the minimum wage's value set by the respected governments. It is varying by the company to the company. Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is not monitoring the private companies to ensure that employees are getting minimum basic salaries or not which are set by the Government of India. Also, the contracted employees in Govt. organizations are not getting salary on minimum wages basis. Govt. of India is not looking into this matter due to which people are suffering. You are requested to intervene in this matter & expedite action, please. Thanks & Best Regards, Pramod Kumar Agarwal
