Notice Period : Expiry of Rental Contract

My rental contract is for the duration 11.12.2019 to 10.11.2020 (11 months) in the state of Maharashtra. On 19th October,2020 I informed my landlord over the phone (and later over email) that I would not be renewing the rental contract and will vacate the apartment. My landlord asked me to give 30 days notice, till 20th November 2020 (10 days further after the lease expiry date) and I agreed to it. I am seeking more clarity on two things: 1. Is he right in asking me to pay rent for 30 days as a notice period in which 10 days fall outside the expiry date of rental contract as I do not want to renew the rental contract. 2. For the month of December, I transferred the full monthly rent amount to my landlord while my rent agreement is from 11th December 2019 as mentioned above. I did so in the understanding that whatever extra I have paid will be adjusted in the end. So basically I have paid full monthly rent from December 2019 till October 2020. My landlord says that I need to pay for notice period till 20th November as a continuation of first point and that it is a rule that rent has to be paid for the whole month and not just for the partial month (referring to December 11th 2019 when the contract starts), while I understand that I shouldn't have to pay for the whole month of December 2019 but only for the days from which rental contract started. I occupied the property after 2-3 days of rental contract starting. Please help.
