2 year bond-went absconding from the 11 month

Greetings to all the legal experts here. Background: I was working with a company and at the time of starting my employment with them, I was asked to sign a 2 year bond. The bond says that a lump sum amount of Rs.2.5 lacs will be required to pay in case, I fail to work for the duration of 24 months. (this amoun is the expenses incurred for succefully carrying out daily work-but NO TRAINING as such) However, (sent a text to my reporting manager) I stopped going to the office from the 11 month due to parents ill health. (I am the only son and living in another city. They are senior citizen.) Now after approximately 1.5 months, a communication on mail, whatsapp has been delivered from the company. It states that they tride to get in touch me on my mobile(s/o now) and they were not able to get in touch. Get in touch with them immediately to discuss the resons of absence and return the company property.(I have company I card). I have already replied them with the reason of my absence and plan to visit them in person in near future. The problem is that now they are threatening me to pay the bond amount or else they will take legal actions against me. I wanted to ask all the honourable legal experts on this platform that WHAT LEGAL ACTIONS can company take in this case. -waiting eagerly for your kind responses
