Name Correction

Hello, I am a residence of New Delhi. Actually, there is a minor spelling mistake my name in class 10th mark sheet certificate. My original name in all documents is MUKHDEV but my name in class 10th certificate is MUKHDEW. When I went to the Passport Office they held my application and they said that there is a mismatch between your class 10 certificate and other documents. I asked them for the solution and they said that I have to publish my name in two newspapers. When I search on the internet I found that I have to get an affidavit for the ad of my correct name in Newspaper. And in some videos, it shows that I have to publish my name in Gazette also and I have to get Gazette notification also. I am very confused. Is Gazette notification mandatory for name correction? If yes, then what is the procedure? How to make Affidavit and how to legally verify it? In how many newspapers I have to publish an ad of my original name? What is the procedure for all this? Is there any other document required for name correction so that it does not create any problem for getting the passport. Please Help.
