Domicile certificate in Maharashtra

I had my schooling and college in Mumbai. I am a resident of mumbai from 1975 till date. I had made my domicile certificate for my college purpose in 1992. My husband is from Tamil nadu and he has permanent residance there. After marriage I did not shift to Tamil nadu. After my son was born, I and my son continued to stay in mumbai. My husbands job was transferable so he continues to have domicile in Tamil Nadu state.My son was born in Mumbai,Maharashtra . He did his schooling in Mumbai. Presently he is studying 11th std in Mumbai. Both myself and my son have been in Mumbai and our passports have Mumbai address. Now my son is 16 years old. I need to apply for his domicile certificate for admission in Maharashtra. Will there be an issue as my husband is having domicile in Tamil nadu ? Is my domicile certificate enough for his application?? Should I renew my domicile and get a fresh one for myself since mine was taken when I was in 10th (1992)??. I saw in the internet under eligibility that children born and studied in Mumbai get domiclile status automatically, Is it like that? Some of the agents said that Father needs to be domiciled in Mumbai. Is mothers domiclie not valid??
