Letter from Ahmedabad Customs against parcel of sex toy ordered from China.
Hello Mr. Mapara,
I had placed an order for a sex toy online. The same has arrived in India and is held by Ahmedabad Customs. I was unaware that import of Sex toys is not permitted in India. Now, I have received a letter from Ahmedabad Customs as follows.
"Gentlemen
Sub: Holding of the Parcel bearing No.xxxxxxxx dated xx.xx.xxxx
You are, therefore, requested to furnish the following SELF CERTIFIED DOCUMENTS to this
office may be send by Email : [deleted] as early as possible. Also Mention your
Parcel No as reference while submitting your documents through Email
1.Purchase Invoice/Commercial Invoice.
2.Transactions details/payment details
3.Copy of any one document (Pan card/driving license/voter ID/Aadhar card
4. You are also requested to refer Notification S.0.No 1056 (E), dated 31.12.1993 as amended
time to time issued by the Ministry of Commerce regarding prohibition of import of goods which
are liable for confiscation and penalty under the Customs Act 1962.
5. Also you are requested to refer serial no. (i) of the Notification No. 1/1964 Customs dated
18.01.2016 issued by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) regarding prohibition of
1962 import of "obscene article which are liable for confiscation and penalty under the Customs Art
In case of any contravention of Customs Act, 1962, you are also requested to specifically state
whether you would like have show cause notice and also inform whether you want to be heard in
person before adjudication or otherwise."
Please advise on how to respond to this letter.
