DOB incorrect on passport
Hi,
My first passport was issued in Mumbai in in 2002 and expired in 2012 (when I was a minor). In 2010, I received a job offer in Dubai and once my visa was issued, only then did I realise my DOB was incorrect on my passport. My correct DOB is 18th Feb 1986 whereas my passport show 18th Sep 1986 (incorrect month). Since my visa was already issued, I decided to go ahead with my travel and to rectify the issue when my passport was reaching expiration. I worked for an empoyer who dealt with luxury goods and hence had to deposit my passport with the employer. In July 2011, I changed employers however by the time my passport was released (old employment visa cancelled), my new employer could not issue a new visa until my passport was renewed. I faced alot of problems in Dubai trying to save my new employmenr and unfortunately proceed with renewing my passport without changing the DOB.
Since my job involved alot of travelling, I had to recently renew my passort for the 2nd time since I did not have sufficent pages. I approached the Consulate General of India in Dubai and showed them all my original Indian documents (Aadhar card, PAN card, High School docs, Attested Birth certificate) that show my correct DOB however they have told me that the DOB can be changed if I have a court order.
Reading about my situation, I would like to know how long will this court order take and do I need to be present in India for the whole duration? Can my father (with a POA) assist on my behalf? Does the court keep my current passport or can I still travel with it?
I ask these questions as I'm afraid of loosing my job.
Any advise will be appriciated.
