I am a home loan customer with SBI Madinaguda Branch Hyderabad, Loan was jointly taken by me and my late father Jagadish Hakke (co-borrower) on 18 June 2016, Processing and Cheque was done by SBI RACPC Madhapur, Please find the details as mentioned.

At that point of disbursal of the home loan, we were asked to take a home loan insurance policy namely Rinn Raksha issued by SBI life Insurance. We were told that this was mandatory and am charged Rs. 3,390.00 as annual premium to be paid annually since then. The application form was filled and applied by K Shiva on 18. June. 2016 and subsequently we were issued SBI Rinn Raksha Policy, details are mentioned below.

In the year 2017, I lost my father and when I approached the SBI life Insurance to seek a claim,( mail attached) they rejected it saying that the policy is insured on only on my name and my father is not covered under the policy.( I have attached the application form of Insurance policy for your reference) SBI life now says we cannot process this claim because the borrower is shown as single and I am the only loan borrower, and surprisingly my father has been made the nominee!! If, the loan was taken jointly and my father was eligible to avail loan then why was he not covered under the insurance policy?
I received the soft copy of the application form from SBI life on Aug 7th 2018 and I read that the co-borrower needs to take a separate policy. I then want to know why my father was not asked to take that separate policy. How can only I be insured for the entire loan amount and my father not even asked to buy a separate Insurance policy?
I have raised this issue and sought a clarification from SBI life insurance by writing an email on Aug 20 2018. They now respond saying:
"In this regard we wish to inform you that we have already replied to your concerns in our previous communication. On receipt of your complaint we have reviewed the case once again and wish to reiterate that the policy was issued as per proposal form which was duly signed by you. As per proposal form, the application for insurance cover was received only for the primary borrower and policy was issued accordingly on 28.06.2016. Hence life insurance contract has been established between you (primary borrower) and insurance company"
Do you think i have a case here and drag them to the court and seek compensation?
Regards,
Rahul Hakke
