Deficiency of Services by Hospital During Child Birth
Hi,
I got my wife admitted to a reputed hospital in Noida for delivery of my newborn recently. Everything went well and my wife was discharged on the third along with my new born baby boy! We paid all the bills and got the discharge summary along with the bill receipts and other artifacts such as reports, consultations papers etc.
When we visited the OPD after few days for a follow up check up for my newborn, we were surprised to know that the discharge summary for my newborn was having multiple issues i.e. details provided were incorrect including the UHID/IPID, admission date, discharge date etc.
When I asked them about this, firstly they started asking me to visit registration desk, records room etc to sort these out by myself. When I became angry over this, then they started giving me various excuses like UHID numbers getting changed due to upgrade of software etc. They offered me to get the discharge summary corrected for which yet again I was asked to contact several people on my own.
To my utter surprise, even the on duty doctor termed this as a small mistake and stated that this is a "typographical error" and nothing more. I could not believe that providing wrong information on one's discharge summary is being termed as a small mistake.
They provided me the updated discharge summary but I insisted on having the old one with me to pursue the legal course of action. Also, things did not end here. The registration information available with the OPD also had my new born's date of birth as incorrect to which the helpdesk person told me that I might have supplied that information wrongly to them.
I want to apply for monetary compensation for the ordeal that I along with my wife and my new born has gone through. Please help with the valuable suggestions!
