Abandoned vehicle (trying to understand the laws and procedures)

Hi, my car broke down in the middle of the car and had to push it to the side. i tried to get it fixed and towed but it was late and services were unavailable. evenually, i had to push park the car. fast forward the next day, i found out that my car was towed and it was booked and i was told that it was abandoned. they told that the car was unlocked which i had locked and checked many times before leaving it there. i went to the police station and they told me that my car has been compounded. i was told to bring the papers of the car and also i had to pay fine.the key of the car was with me so i wen to the car (which was opened) to take my wallet which i kept on the glove compartment. when i checked i found that my personal cards, ids were all in different places but the rc card was not there. i went and ask the officer and he told me that i didnt get permission to open the car (which i have no clue bout that). and so now i have to report again tomoro and i\'m confused. what should i do? can i get your advice? thank you
