Can a company ask me to leave just because I submitted my resignation after my salary got credited.

I worked in a firm for 5 months but recently I got a new job opportunity with better profile and better salary. So I told my team leader that I am resigning from my job and I will be serving my one month notice period but I informed her just after I received my salary on that day as the company has a habit of golding employees salary if their performance for that particular month is not good and unfortunately only for that month my performance was not good and hence I was afraid that my salary will be put on hold if I resigned before I received my salary. So after I informed them verbally I was called by the HR and the team leader and was asked to leave the firm on an immediate basis as they feel I broke their trust. So on the next day I dropped a resignation mail from my personal email I’d but I have not received any reply for the same. Also I have not received any termination letter nor any written proof that I have been terminated. My new company is a MNC firm and is asking for the relieving letter of the previous employee. So what can be done in this case as I have the offer letter and all the salary slips of the previous employee but just the relieving letter is not there. Kindly suggest on what can be done.
