Resignation Notice
Hi,
I emailed by manager to resign and last working day is to be 10th day after today.
He replied:-
You have 2-months’ notice period which you need to served. For you to depart from company with effect from your said date is not possible.
Me: For notice period, it says,
“You may resign from the services of the company by giving 60 days’ Notice or Salary in lieu of such Notice.” – This is taken from the letter of appointment.
As this is an emergency, so I am ready to pay the Salary in lieu of such Notice which I can’t serve.
Him : I’m sorry about your emergency circumstances but the employment contract you have signed with FIS is a legal binding document. As such, you are obliged to served 2-months period, regardless your willingness to payout, until an agreement has been reached. I believed we can work out something but said date is not possible.
Now my question is, does this not mean that I am not obliged to serve 60 days but can pay as it already says "you may resign by notice or salary in lieu of such notice".
