Mental harassment as a chemistry lab assistant

Hello, Sir/Ma'am, During last few weeks my father, who was working in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College Rahara, Kolkata 700118, for about 25 years as a chemistry lab assistant and was mainly renowned for his honesty, is getting mentally harassed during last few weeks. A few weeks ago a newcomer has joined the college and he is a local resident there. He is trying to take the position of my father's job so he is spreading fake rumors about him to other assistants and teachers and they are somehow believing his words and threatening my father of which my father has never done. From last few weeks each and every day he is coming home and we are watching him getting mentally frustrated. Being a local resident he is even threatening that he won't return home safely if he doesn't leave this job immediately. Being his family members and we are too much worried about what to do now. Should we lodge a complaint before anything happens to him? Is there any proper law against this type of mental harassment? Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. What should we do now?
