Dear Sir,
Good Day.
My father had a built a residential house in 1970's wherein his name used to be Alok Kumar Gupta ( As on conveyance deed). He currently has a valid passport in old name of Alok Kumar Gupta.
Later on somewhere in 1990's, he changed his name to Alok Gupta ( deleted Kumar from his name) without any formal intimation / legal procedure.
Presently all his bank accounts and PAN card are in name of Alok Gupta. ( NOT Alok Kumar Gupta)
Pls advise that when the time comes for transfer of property and finance in bank ( means after the death of a person in such case ) to his son's name , if there will be any issue for transfer of property and cash, in view of the discrepancy in name.
Also, what all remedial measures should we take now to avoid any legal hassles later on.
Finally, if the Death Certificate in such a case should be made in name of Alok Kumar Gupta OR Alok Kumar.
Many thanks for your guidance.
Brgds
Vijay

Dear Sir..many thanks for your reply...Will follow up accordingly. Meanwhile, would the Bank / IT dept ask for any legal paper ( I mean affidavit etc) to effect this change . This is because for last 20 years , his bank accounts are in name of Alok Gupta only....Many thanks for your guidance.

Further to above, kindly note that my password indicates my father name as Alok Gupta ( Not Alok Kumar Gupta)...If after doing above process, I should also get My passport amended accordingly ...or no need.

Good Day Sir...need your further advise...
Ref above, pls note that my passport shows name Alok Gupta ( Not Alok Kumar Gupta).
My Dad is apprehensive in making changes to his name and to his assets ( which I can understand as he is 77 yrs of age).
Incase in this scenario, pls advise if flwg will make the case simpler:
1. Firstly , my dad makes a Registered Will stating his name as Alok Kumar Gupta Alias Alok Gupta and proposes myself as the inheritor in the will.
This should sort out the property issue.
2. Then, he gives a sworn affidavit to the banks in which he has accounts that Alok Kumar Gupta and Alok Gupta is one and the same , and makes a nomination in my name.
This should sort out the banking issue.
Sir, kindly guide if this would solve our problem or anything simpler.
Many Thanks.
Best Regards
