The trust administration will be based on the trust deed.

The trust deed will provide provisions for all such expenses.

Since you are the trustee you may peruse the trust deed for knowing the details of reimbursement on such expenses.

- As per the Act, trustees are entitled to reimbursement of any expenses paid out of their own pocket, and this
includes travel expenses, taxes, and other expenses related to the management of the trust.

- Further, these expenses are reimbursable from the trust , even the trust deed not having such clauses.

It all depends on what your trust deed says. Please check if there is a provision for payment of such allowances.

Dear Client,

Yes, the trustee can request travel and daily allowances for conducting the workshop for the trust. Guard against these payments being contrary to the provisions of the trust deeds and other relevant laws. Adhering to requirement of showing all expenses & keeping all records clear and comprehensible. They should seek legal or financial advice in this matter from a professional to determine the legal requirement.

Yes, as a trustee of a charitable trust in India, you can be reimbursed for travel and daily allowances incurred while conducting workshops for the trust. However, there are some important considerations and limitations to keep in mind:

Permissible Expenses:

  • Travel Expenses: You can be reimbursed for actual travel expenses incurred, such as airfare, train fare, bus fare, taxi fare, or fuel costs if you use your own vehicle. The reimbursement should be based on actuals with supporting bills and receipts.

  • Daily Allowances (DA): You can also be paid a reasonable daily allowance to cover expenses like food, accommodation, and other incidental costs during your travels. The amount of DA should be based on the trust's policies and should be justifiable.
