• Supreme Court of India Priority for Senior Citizens

Hello
I had a car accident in 2002 and High Court finally passed a judgement in 2022 but failed to appreciate the loss i have incurred. I have now approached the supreme court but my case keeps on getting postponed. I am now 66 yrs of age and with medical issues

Is there any way my case be heard on a priority basis in Supreme Court?

The Chief Justice of India has addressed the Chief Justices of all the High Courts advising them to identify and dispose of cases on priority basis in which persons above 65 years of age are involved. These include long pending cases of senior citizens, pensioners and retired Government servants on a priority basis.

2)you can make an application to the SC  for priority & early hearing of your case citing your age and other reasons. I

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. According to a circular issued by the Supreme Court of India in 2013, precedence is to be given by courts for hearing and final disposal of cases wherein one of the parties has attained the age of sixty years and above. This means that senior citizens can request priority hearing in courts.

The Chief Justice of India has communicated with the Chief Justices of all High Courts, providing guidance to recognize and expedite cases involving individuals aged 65 and above. This directive pertains specifically to addressing longstanding cases involving senior citizens, pensioners, and retired government employees with a sense of urgency.

Moreover, individuals falling within this age bracket can make an application to the Supreme Court, requesting prioritized and accelerated hearings for their cases. This can be done by citing their age and any other pertinent reasons warranting such swift consideration.

-  There is a direction from the Chief Justice of India to identify and dispose of cases on priority basis in which persons above 65 years of age are involved.

- Hence, you can move an application for urgent hearing before the office of the registrar of Supreme Court after giving the proofs of age , and thereby request to heard your case on priority basis.
