You should complete formalities to get your name changed and get your name corrected. If necessity arise then give affidavit to the effect that all the names belong to one person I.e.you. ln court proceedings you should have got your name corrected.

You may have to follow the change of name procedure to state that both the names are one and the same.

For this you have to prepare an affidavit duly notarized and get the affidavit published in local newspaper and then attach the copy of the newspaper and the affidavit along with your application for reissue of passport with the rectified name

In situations where there is a discrepancy in names between legal documents such as court documents and your passport, it's important to address the issue promptly to ensure consistency and avoid any complications. Here are a few steps you can consider taking:

Consult with an attorney: Seek legal advice from a family law attorney in your jurisdiction. They will guide you on the specific steps you need to take based on the laws and regulations applicable in your country.

Update your court documents: If there is an ongoing court case, inform your attorney about the name discrepancy. They can guide you on how to update the court documents to reflect your correct legal name. This may involve filing a request or an application with the court to amend the documents accordingly.

Update your passport: Contact the appropriate passport authority in your country to initiate the process of updating your passport with your correct legal name. They will provide you with the necessary instructions and requirements for updating your passport. This typically involves submitting an application, supporting documentation, and paying the relevant fees.

Gather supporting documents: To support your name change request, you may need to provide documentation such as your divorce decree, marriage certificate (if applicable), and any other relevant legal documents. Consult with your attorney and passport authority to determine the specific documents required in your situation.

Notify relevant parties: Once you have updated your court documents and passport, it's important to notify relevant parties of the name change, such as banks, government agencies, employers, and other organizations. Provide them with the updated documents as proof of your legal name change.

Hello,

  1. You will need to intimate the authority about the change in your name as a result of marriage and produce relevant documents.
  2. Production of copy of your divorce decree will also be required to establish retention of the original name after divorce.
