• Change personal particulars in the reissue of passport

My earlier passport had the following personal details:-

name - saptarshi sinha
place of birth - india
need to change to
Known Nby another name - Y
Other name -Dwip Sinha
Name - Saptarshi Sinha
Country of birth - Mauritius

Now I have to reissue my passport and want to change my personal details which was incorrect previously. As we were not able to locate my certificate of birth , the place of birth was given as india instead of Mauritius(My country of birth) My parents are born in india and by naturalization I am a citizen of india.
Now I have the birth certificate from the country where I was born, which is Mauritius. so is it fine if the give Mauritius as the place of birth now which was delhi, india before. In the birth certifiate my name is given as Dwip Sinha as I was born as Dwip Sinha and my name was later changed to Saptarshi Sinha. I have the affidavit for the name change from Dwip Sinha to Saptarshi Sinha.

Will there be any issue if I give these details now or I should write the same personal details as I have in my current passport. What could be the issue faced by me if I change the personal details now when I reissue my passport(I have all the proofs). Will they ask that why it was not given earlier etc etc.
Please advise.

You can apply for reissue of passport with change in personal particulars

2) if your name has changed rely upon gazette notification published  for change of name on passport

3) if you want to  change of country in your passport then you would need court orders in this regard

Except address no basic changes can be made. Any variation may disqualify you and can result into invalidation of passport.

If you have documentary evidence to prove the change of name and if the changed name only appears in the passport, why do you want to revert to the old name? You can allow the changed name to continue in the reissue of passport.

For change of place of birth being a foreign country, you may have to get a court order on the basis of which you can apply for reissue of passport with new details i.e., place of birth to be replaced by the proposed one with the existing one.

For changing the place of birth from India to Mauritius, you may have to produce a copy of  the birth certificate, a copy of the affidavit for change of name and other details i.e., your parents passport or any other Indian identity cards.

For changing the place of birth from one country to another country in passport, you may have to get a court order directing the passport authorities to carry out the desired change in the passport

Dear client,

As per the Passport Seva Manual, if there is a mistake in the personal details mentioned in the earlier passport, the applicant should apply for a re-issue of the passport with the correct details. In your case, since you have a birth certificate from Mauritius, which is your country of birth, it is advisable to mention Mauritius as the place of birth in the re-issued passport.

Regarding the name change, you have an affidavit for the change of name from Dwip Sinha to Saptarshi Sinha, which can be submitted as proof for the name change. It is recommended to mention the correct and current name, i.e., Saptarshi Sinha, in the re-issued passport.

There may be some questions asked by the authorities regarding the change of personal details, such as why it was not mentioned earlier. However, since you have all the required proofs, such as the birth certificate and affidavit for the name change, it should not be a significant issue.

It is always advisable to provide accurate and correct personal details in the passport application, as any incorrect information may cause delays or rejections in the passport issuance process. Therefore, it is recommended to mention the correct and current details in the re-issued passport.

Dear Sir,

It seems you wish to change major particulars of your passport. In such case it is better to submit fresh application for getting passport with new particulars so that you can get fresh passport subject to approval by the passport authorities.
