In the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, more and more educational institutions are adopting the model of online schooling.
The Indian government acknowledges each child’s ‘RIGHT TO EDUCATION’ and appreciates all efforts in this regard. The Indian judicial system does not hold homeschooling or online schooling against any section or provision (sections 18 and 19) of the RTE 2009. As a result, homeschooling is allowed in India.
Formally recognized and accredited online schools are no different than physical schools. In India, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is one of the curriculum frameworks that are at par with CBSE or CISCE Certificates and offer valid entry to Colleges and Universities including IIT, Medical Colleges and UPSC. Online schools that offer NIOS curriculum are a must.
when choosing an online school look at the accreditation and curriculum provided by the institute. Online schools also offer a transfer certificate and marksheet to students at the end of the academic year.
Homeschooling became permitted in Maharashtra on January 10th, 2019.
In Maharashtra, the government has agreed on the following age groups to take the exams:
Class 5 – 10 years,
Class 8 – 13 years,
Class 10 – 15 years
Homeschooled children may take board exams as private pupils. Parents must prepare them almost like any other student and ensure that all forms registering them as private pupils are completed and submitted on time.
