My passport has expired. My permanent address is Mumbai where my parents are staying for the last 25 years. I have moved to Bangalore in March 2022 and this is my present address. I have rental agreement for present address but I have only stayed here for 6 months. For permanent address, I have an Aadhaar card stating my Mumbai address. Where should I apply for passport renewal - Banglore or Mumbai passport office? Which address should I mention on my passport - Mumbai (Permanent) or Bangalore (Present)? Police verification will be done in Mumbai or Bangalore? If Mumbai, then do I need to be present during police verification at home? P.S. - My old passport has Mumbai permanent address. You can apply for passport at Bangalore or Mumbai
2) you should mention permanent address as Mumbai as Aadhar card is of Mumbai and temporary address of Bangalore
3) police verification would be done in Mumbai and you need to be present during police verification
You have shifted to Bangalore hardly six months back hence it is advisable that you give Mumbai address itself in the application form and apply for renewal at PSK Mumbai.
You have to be available in Mumbai for police verification.

All future addresses to be mentioned that of Mumbai which will be more convenient for the police to submit their verification report etc. You cannot be considered as permanent residence of Bengaluru until and unless you reside in Bengaluru for atleast 2-3 years and have Aadhar card of Bengaluru address. To avoid all inconveniences you may safely provide Mumbai address in your passport renewal application.
