• Acquiring agriculture land from my father as NRI

I am planning to become a British citizen in the next year. My father currently holds ancestral agriculture property which is in his name as the property has been divided between my uncle, grandma and my father.
Can I acquire this agriculture land after I get British citizenship and I have an OCI as part of his will? Or, should I acquire it before becoming British citizenship?
Please, guide me.
Thank you.

You can inherit the agricultural property after your father's death and not during his lifetime.

There's no bar in inheriting agricultural property by a citizen of other country.

Ancestral property can be inherited by any person in India irrespective of their nationality. So, there would be no issues.

It is better to get your father to execute a gift deed in your favour in respect of his share of the ancestral agricultural property before your acquiring British citizenship, in order to avoid any cumbersome process later.
