• Buying agri land at Maharashtra.

I want to do farming post retirement. However i do not belong to farmer family. I have found out that i can legally buy farming land at Jharkhand my birth town. I was given Rajasthan option by land broker which i found fishy.
I am unsure if agri land ownership document from Jharkhand will allow me to buy land at Maharastra or do i also need to get a farmer certificate .
Is there a minimum size that i need to buy at Jharkhand to be eligible to buy agri land here

You have to own an agricultural land either in Maharashtra or elsewhere in any other part of the country.

In Maharashtra, only agriculturists can purchase agricultural land.

If either of a person's parents or grandparents are agriculturists, then such a person is also entitled to the purchase. If a person holds agricultural land anywhere else in India, he can still be deemed an agriculturist in Maharashtra.

The maximum ceiling limit for such land is 54 acres, depending upon the type of land or level of water supply.

The brokers will help you to procure agricultural land in Maharashtra by using all types of illegal means.

Hence it is you who have to be caution about it that not to get entangled into any legal disputes at a later stage.

Dear Sir,

In Maharashtra, you need to be an agriculturalist to buy agricultural land. If you have agricultural land in Jharkhand then you can buy one in Maharashtra too. To get an agricultural certificate you will have to go to the Revenue Department Office, fill a form and submit it to the department. You need to make sure that all the documents as required are submitted after which you will get the certificate.

- Now a non-agriculturist can now buy agricultural land in Maharashtra.

- As previously, an non-agriculturist was not allowed to purchase agricultural land without the prior approval of the Collector, but after the amendment on 01.01.2016 in the Maharashtra Tenancy and Agricultural Land Act , now a non-agriculturist can purchase the agricultural land subject to certain conditions.

- Since, you have agriculture land in Jharkhand , then on this ground you can buy also in Maharashtra as well.
