Dear Sir,
My son had passed class-X from CBSE affiliated school in Kota, Rajasthan in 2013. I recently found out that his parents name were written with space after each syllable. My name VANLALTHLAMUANA was written in the Cerificate as VAN LAL THLA MUANA.
Is there any possibilties to correct the name after a lapse of 7 years.
Advice please.

You can  write to head office of CBSC for correction and issue of fresh X marksheet. Wait for their reply and Follow up.

If no response or denial, last remedy is direction from high court.

There is no need to correct the name merely because there is some spacing between various letters

- As per law, you can correct fathers name in the tenth & 12 th certificates or other educational certificates ,within only one year of passing the same.

- If the said period already passed, then for changing the same Court order is needed, after filing a suit for declaration .

- But , if you think , the said mistake has been committed by the CBSE , then file a declaration suit OR a Writ Petition before the High court for getting new Certificate with correct fathers name.

This can be very much done. The Board may effect necessary corrections after verification of the Original records of the school and on payment of the prescribes fee. You need to approach the school first, and through them approach CBSE, seeking the requisite correction in spelling mistake.

Talk to the Biard which has issued te certificate as in any cases there is cap on time to apply for corrections of name or spelling.

Even if it is not allowed then also there is nothing to worry as once you make an affidavit from a first class magistrate followed by newspaper publication the confusion over this error is removed.

Good luck.

Name can be corrected in marksheets and in records of cbse you have to take following steps:

1. Submit a representation to school and cbse for desired change.

2. If action is taken on your representation then you have remedy to file writ petition before Hon’ble High Court at Rajasthan.

See you can make an application before the CBSE for.correction of same in case the application is denied approach Rajasthan High Court seeking direction for correction.

See as far as CBSE rules are their they allow 9ne year period for correction if you fail in that period they deny application so filing before high court will be only resort but before that representation is required.

The education authorities will not entertain any application to correct the father's name or any other correction in the X mark sheet or certificate at this stage.

You don't worry about this, you can prepare an affidavit stating that both the names are one and the same, get it notarised, publish it in a newspaper  which shall be sufficient to prove that the error was rectified.

It can be corrected if he files an application to CBSE. However, CBSE does not consider such applications if filed after 2 years. Hence, your son may eventually have to file a writ petition in the High Court to direct CBSE to rectify the error.

Dear Sir,

The said correction is possible only as per rules of CBSE and you are suggested not to worry and take it as typo errors.

  1. As per the information mentioned in the present query, makes it clear that the limitation has been expired in accordance with the last notification, but now the rule has been changed and limitation period has been extended to 10 years for any correction only not for change.
  2. You should make a representation to the concerned authority and then wait for some days and if no reply.
  3. Then should file a writ petition before but the Hon’ble High Court under writ jurisdiction as per Article 226 of our great Constitution.
  4. Also issue a notice in one local and national newspaper about the same before filing of the writ petition.

Firstly, it has been seven years since your son passed out from school, as such, you need to explain as to why you waited for so many years.

However, it does not cause any problem if space is there between each syllable of your name, it can be continued as it is.  No harm.

Still if you want to get it corrected, you have to make an application to the CBSE Board seeking the correction, upon its response you can take next step.
