Law position is as follows.

If you do any profession on literally nature on regular basis you need to take prior permission from govt authorities concerned.

If you do the same occassionally no prior permission is required but you should inform the authorities within one month from taking such activities.

- As per law, all government emmplyees need prior permission of their respective departmental head , if they going to getting any extra income from any work.

- Further, Any activity which gives the public servant a periodic income is strictly prohibited under Conduct Rules.

- However, income from non-periodic activity such as giving lectures, writing books, writings articles/essays/singing/writing songs ,  can be kept by the public servant , with the prior permission / approval of the competent authority.

- Hence, you are suggested to take permssion from your departmental head .
