All packaged goods in India have to mandatorily bear MRP. MRP is the maximum price at which a commodity in packaged form may be sold to the consumer inclusive of all taxes.
The provision of MRP was introduced in India to protect the interest and right of consumers. Affixing labels on packages with details including MRP allows consumers to make an informed decision and obtain full information about the quality and price of products they purchase
if no MRP is to be printed on affixed labels, the cost of production will decrease which will ultimately lead to reduction in price of commodities for consumers.
Currently, provisions of MRP and manner of declaration of MRP are governed by The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 (hereinafter referred to as the "Rules")2 According to the Rules, all packaged commodities shall be affixed with a label that is legible and prominent, and such label shall contain declarations including the MRP

However you may analyse the rates to that of the Indian market and may stick you own MRP but you need to check if it carries the expiry dates in it along with the date of manufacturing.
Some companies already have been served notices for not fully complying with the legal metrology rules, .
The department has also sent an advisory to state authorities to check for compliance and take steps to prosecute companies that are not compliant.
The rules were part of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2017 brought forth in June last year. It requires that all products have details such as manufacturing date, MRP and details of the manufacturer mentioned in a particular font size. Ecommerce companies were required to display all these details on their platforms for each product and work with sellers to ensure they are compliant.
Under the Weights and Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules, all packaged goods have to fulfill certain essential requirements such as providing certain necessary information on the contents of the package, such as its weight or volume, the name and address of the manufacturer, the date of manufacture, and in case of food packages, the best before date and, of course, the maximum retail price (MRP).
Thus, you cannot sell any product without MRP.
As per the Weights & Measures Act & Rules (of which Consumer Protection is a part), it is illegal to sell any packaged item without the MRP (inclusive of all taxes). For imported goods, it is also mandatory to declare the following :
1. Name & Full address of the Importer
