• Interstate transfer of BS III vehicle

I own a 2008 model BS III vehicle. I recently shifted from Bangalore to Rajasthan and have obtained an NOC from Bangalore RTO to the local Rajasthan RTO. However, the new RTO refused to entertain the NOC saying re registration of BSIII vehicles is banned. In that case, why did the Bangalore RTO issue the NOC? What is the procedure to legally drive my vehicle in the new state?

There is no issue in re-registering the vehicle the problem is only with the new registration after 2017 file an RTI seeking response on same from the Regional transport office. Further in my view you can drive your vehicle with complete documents there wont be any issue.

transfer of ownership is allowed within the same state only, since this does not involve change of vehicle registration number. One cannot do inter state transfer of a BS3 model.

If you are Transferred to other State due to Job for more than a year or Settling down Permanently, you would not be able to take your BS - 3 Compliant Car in New State  due to Ban on re-registration of Such Cars

2) you can continue driving the cars in without any Issues or can sell Car in Home City / State to other Person at Ease and in event of Sale - its Name Transfer happens without any re-registration.

The Bangalore RTO has no problem in issuing the NOC as the vehicle can be transfer within the Karnataka but it cannot be registered in any other state as the BSIII registration are banned from 2018.

The Bangalore RTO office may not be aware of local law in this regard pertaining to such cases.

If you're aggrieved by this decision, you may first get the denial by the authorities in this regard in writing.

After that you may prefer an appeal against this before the appellate authority for intervention and proper relief and remedy.

You should have applied for transfer of registration not re registration. Get the OLD registration reinstate and than apply for transfer of registration.
