• My grandfather always tortures and threatens us

Dear Sir,
My Grandfather always misbehaves us and always threatens us that he will commit suicide and entrap us. Apart from this, he threatened us of police and if we do not do what he says, then he will implicate us in the case of senior citizen harassment. On December 31, 2017,to threaten us he called the police and said that we are beating him and torturing him. In front of the police, he says that he will commit suicide and will blame us for his murder. He is always threatening us of law and police. What should we do? What action can my family take in this matter? Please help / guide us.
Thank you,

Why he is threatening?

He cannot abuse the law by launching false complaints.

Inform the police that he is suffering from mental disorder and take him to psychologist which may reduce your issues.

Firstly, try to record the sayings.

Secondly, make a complain to the police station that you all are not doing anything, and also add that he is torturing you by saying the story of false cases.

1. Who is the owner of the house where you are residing?

2. Install CCTVs inside the house to collect evidence of the domestic violence committed by your grandfather and to show that you are not the aggressor.

As per the law applicable at present, the person/s found guilty of attempting suicide is punished with one year imprisonment and fine under IPC section 309. Register a police complaint regarding threatening for suicide, as suicide is a criminal offence police will take action.

Hello,

You may give a NC to the Police station saying that all these things are being done by him.

Also record such activities on his part wherein he is saying such things of doing suicide and implicating you etc.

Since he has been blackmailing you to get you all booked on strength of false cases etc., you must try to record(audio/video) all such conversations wherein he has been doing this.

Once you have evidence of his blackmailing, approach the Police and register a complaint against him.

He cannot take advantage of the fact that he's a senior citizen and that the general public and the law enforcement agencies will have a soft corner for him.

Hi,

Instead of taking any legal action I think he have a behavioural issue. If all is well in the family and he behaves like that he need to visit a physicist or a counsellor for his treatment.

You have not maintained his family status like wife and other family members.

As a senior citizen he have the protection some how but that does not mean any due advantage of being an old man.

Why is your grandfather doing this?

Is he doing it on his own or whether he is affected by some mental illness or whether you people are really torturing him?

Since he has threatened before the police itself that he will commit suicide and throw blames on you, it will be a right time to file a NC against him with the same police stating that he is threatening with suicide and blame you for this, citing the police who visited your house as witness.

This may help you defend your future interests in this.

I also want to mention that my father is in government service and my grandfather is a pensioner. And I'm training in a company.

Whether he is a pensioner or whatever he may be, if he is doing all these thing without any valid reason, then it may be considered that he is mentally affected, hence a counselling with a psychiatrist or a psychologist shall be able to enable you to get a clear idea about his present metal status.
