I am an IT employee. I met with a girl on a trip and got friend with the girl. We never met but we chatted and spoke over calls and one day she asked for a marriage proposal. I was interested so I said if both sides of the families accept I dont have any issues. Her brothers got to know about this and they encouraged her to talk more. I told my parents and were strictly against this, so I step backed and I said that this is not going to go forward as its against my parents will. So I stopped talking to her. She kept on calling and messaging her, so I had to block her by all the means. Her brother called my hometown and asked about my numbers. I am worried if they build any case against me. I didn't meet her once after the first day till now. All my messages very pure(no sexting). She might have few pictures, my parents information, call recordings and messages. I am worried about any false cases she might impose on me. 1. What cases can she put if she decides to defame me and my family? . 2. What are the ways to protect myself from this?
See sir you can not do anything in apprehension, if she ill wish to she can file number of cases against you.
But since all those cases will be false therefore you can defend those well and get them quashed.
I do not thin so that there is any good case on her part, please do not worry about the same.

1. Breaking a marriage proposal is no crime nor any promise of marriage during negotiations gives rise to any actionable wrong if the promise is broken.
2.However a case under Dowry prohibition Act can be filed if it is shown that reason behind breaking the marriage proposal was non fulfilment of your dowry demand.

she can file a case for stalking, but it is not made out in your case because there is no criminal intention from your side. criminal intention is necessary for commencement of offence of stalking under section 354D IPC.

you should keep all the data because if she files any case you can show before the court that there was no abusive or other message which tend to show that you stalked her for establishing a foster personal interaction after disinterest shown by the woman.
you can adduce those messages to show that she did willing to talk and never shown disinterest.
Hi, there is no possible legal action she can take .. Nothing to worry .. No one can be forced for marriage .. There is nothing wrong you have done so why to worry ..
1. Well, the girls in India find it tough to digest a break up, so they file a complaint of rape and cheating with a stereotyped story that the boy promised to marry her and she consented to sexual intercourse by believing the same to be true. This is what she may also do.
2. If the girl or anyone from her family contacts you now then file a complaint in the police station.
3. If and when a FIR gets lodged against you then apply for anticipatory bail.

1. She may initiate cases like., cheating,sending offensive messages through social media, stalking, violation of privacy ... etc.
