Property tax unpaid for last 12 years
Hi,
I bought a flat in 2016, property tax has been unpaid for the last 12years and individual property tax bill does not come through the entire property gets only 1 property tax bill which is including the commercial property existing in the building. I moved into the property last year and since then the residents are harassing me for money demanding that I come up with 50,000/- to pay for property tax.
I feel it is unfair as I did question the agent who sold me the flat, he had taken 50,000 from me to get NOC from the builder as there is no society in the apartments.
I did visit the local NMMC office for clarification and they told me that the outstanding bill of the property needs to be paid off before any action can be taken.
Need to proceed in a legal way would like to know my options.

The apartment that I bought has had multiple owners I am the fifth owner of the apartment and the property tax has not been paid since the beginning.
The land is in the name of a single owner and the property tax comes in the name of the land owner, the building has 4 commercial shops and 13 apartments and the total outstanding property tax is 5,58,000/- after 2 payments of 1,00,000 each last year in the month of August by 4 residents not paid by me.
So before we bought the flat one of the residents who has been living in the building since the inception of the building informed that there is an outstanding balance of maintenance which was around 11,000/- which the previous owner cleared on this intimation but she failed to inform me that the property tax is unpaid and on her clearance the builder gave the NOC for which I paid 50,000 to the builder.
After the NOC I obtained a loan and took possession of the flat and 3 Months later in the month of June the building received a Demand Letter from Municipal Cooperation that the property tax for the building needs to paid and that is how I come to know about all the mess the residents have created.
