• ID proofs taken by fraud guys and suspect of being misused

2-3 week ago a call came to me to make a HDFC credit card and asked for the copy of ID proof documents and bank account statements for issuance of the credit card. I agreed to give those as I have already created other credit cards after receiving the call.

2 guys came to my office and they taken my ID proof copies but they said they don't have the Credit Card apply filling form. They said they will come tomorrow and asked to give the ID proofs for now. I agreed and gave my ID proofs to them.

After that I called many times and they said that it is in process. Now when I call that number, it is out of service. I suspect that those guys were fraud and can misuse my ID proofs.

Can I get an advice, what should I do to be in safe side and not be getting into legal problems and frequent visit to court or police stations.

Lodge a lost article report with the UP Police. The same came by visiting uppolice.gov.in. Login to the said website and register a lost article report. An acknowledgement will be generated which you may retain. As long as these were non-attested photocopies of your original IDs, you need not worry much. Reporting the matter with the police through their online portal is sufficient to keep your indemnified against any misuse of these photocopies of IDs.

Hello,

you file a NCR in the police station with regards to the same and can inform them that the documents were given by you to such and such person having so and so phone number. that the number is off and you anticipate that they might misuse it. You can lodge the complaint online at https://www.noidapolice.com/complaint.php

1. first you should file a complaint before the nearest police station

2. state all the relevant fact of the incident. then police officer will make an entry in the general diary (GD)

3. if they misuse your ID proof for any services etc. this entry in GD will protect you because you have already given proper complaint to the police officer about the fraud.

Yes, you could do that. You may describe the occurrence of incidents in the said portal. Alternatively, you may also inform this to the concerned Police station by way of writing a letter to them. Just go to the Police and submit this letter/application/information and take a receiving on it's photocopy. Retain this stamped and signed receipt given to you by the Police Official(s) for future use.

2) complain about identity proof taken by guys by dishonestly inducing you to believe they were from HDFC credit card

3)also complain to HDFC that persons are impersonating as HDFC employees and taking identity proofs of customers

1. You acted very casually by throwing caution to wind.

2. Now go to the nearest police station to file a complaint against those guys. A lost articles report alone cannot help you as the articles was obtained from you, it was not lost.

You should not have given the documentary proofs to somebody without verifying their credentials and authenticity

Well as a safety precaution you can lodge a criminal complaint against the unknown people expressing your fears about it's misuse with a request to register a NCR to avoid future problems.
